Testimonials – Why you joined NAME?
We asked the Regional Coordinators and State Representatives to write “Why you Joined NAME?” and hand them in at the end of the 2005 National Convention. Here is what they wrote:

- Miniaturists are most generous – I love to share and learn from new friends – the enthusiasm and energy from “newbies” helps renew my spirit.
- I believe you should support the association that supports your hobby. Also, this organization has some of the nicest people in it, and you won’t find a better place to make friends.
- Join NAME for its wonderful magazine.
- Camaraderie of fellow miniaturists and what is happening – belong to the hub of miniaturists.
- How about a logo or “message” emphasizing our volunteer teamwork … “Our House is Your House” meaning that this organization is only great through sharing and doing your part. I think as one lady pointed out, so many are feeling entitled to things. We all need to remember that we’re all volunteers.
- Why I stay in NAME – Because of all the friends I’ve made thru the years—seeing all the creativity—having a good time.
- Because I love the people I meet. Because strangers become friends. Because friends become “family”.
- I joined NAME to acquire knowledge of miniatures – a new craft I had just heard of. This association led me to meet so many new friends across America, Canada, London, England and Glasgow, Scotland, as well as allowing me to attend conventions, learn techniques and meet so many talented artisans. Keep up the good work NAME!!!
- I joined NAME at the Washington, DC Houseparty in 1980 – I was happily surprised to learn many others were as interested as I – in spite of my husband’s remarks that “you have lost your mind”.
- I joined NAME to go to the Hershey Regional in 1993, met wonderful people and have been a member ever since.
- Meet more “small-minded” people. Visit new places and learn new skills.
- Belonging to NAME and participating actively has given me friends all over the US and everywhere I go, I can get together with people and have gotten to know who have similar interests. My miniature NAME Friends have become my extended family and have been a wonderful support system in my life.
- I enjoy my NAME membership especially for all the friends I have made. As a side bonus of working in my favorite hobby, I have also traveled all over the US. I usually spend extra time exploring a new area either before or after the Houseparty.
